You’ll be taking a tour of our beautiful city with exciting stops along the way that will keep the kids smiling and the adults will get to participate in the poker rally aspect of the event, of which the winner will be taking home a fully loaded 2010 Kia Soul! How’s that for a fun-filled day?

Registrations will open soon.

We are looking forward to spending the day with you!

Grand Prize for the Poker Rally: fully loaded 2010 Kia Soul!

Plus, cash prizes for 2nd, 3rd and 4th places!

Registration details coming soon.

Here’s how the Community Rally will go:

1. Check-in (9am-12pm): Check-in will be from 9am-12pm at Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre (9908 Penhorwood St). On check-in we’ll verify your registration info, and your party will have the chance to buy up to 5 Poker Hands ($20 each). To help you manage each hand we’ll provide you with a Poker Hand Passport.
 2. The 5 stations (9am-4pm): After check-in you’ll be on your way to each of the 5 stations spread around the city (and maybe a bit beyond?!?). In each station you will collect a blind Poker Card for each of the hands your party purchased. Our Rotarian volunteers will then update your Passport.
While you get your blind Poker cards, you’ll also meet our Community Partners. They will have set up additional games, activities and give-aways.
Note that we’re giving everybody until 4pm to stop in all 5 Stations, more than enough time. No need to rush!

3. De-Registration (4pm-5:30pm) at Vista Ridge: Once you’ve collected your 5 Poker Cards per Hand, you’ll come to Vista Ridge (1 Spruce Valley Drive) to de-register. We’ll accept Poker Hands from 4pm-5:30pm.

We’ll then tally up all Poker Hands. The Top 8 Hands will be announced and we’ll have a skill-testing competition to find out who will win each of the Prizes!

4. BBQ and Prizes (4pm-6:30pm):  While we do de-registrations you can enjoy our BBQ, learn more about Rotary and our Partners, and have fun with additional surprise activities we have planned for you.

Poker Rally Rules:

  1. All Stations shut down at 4pm. Collect your Hands by 4pm.
  2. Hands will be received from 4pm until 5:30pm.
  3. THIS IS NOT A RACE! Speed is not a consideration in the rally. Please take your time, enjoy the day and abide by all the rules of the road.
  4. We are playing a 5 card poker hand. Standard poker hand rankings will apply.
  5. Top 8 Poker Hands qualify as semi-finalists for the Grand Prize valued at $20,000 and three Cash Prizes ($5,000, $2,000 and $1,000). Prizes will be allocated by the results of a final competition.
  6. This is a BLIND poker rally. All cards have been folded into envelopes and these envelopes cannot be tampered with. Any signs of tampering with the cards will result in automatic disqualification.
  7. If any of the Blind Card Envelopes you receive is defective (ie, more than 1 card), it will be replaced with a new card.
  8. 145 decks of cards will be used in this rally. There is a limit of 5 Poker hands per vehicle.
  9. No duplicate cards within one poker hand will be accepted. In the case of a duplicate, one of the cards will be disposed of and the participant will draw another card at random at the de-registration station.
  10. Participants will draw their own cards under the supervision of the Rotary rally volunteers. At each of the stations on the rally route participants collect one (1) card for each of the hands they have purchased (ie. If you purchased 3 hands you will collect 3 cards at each station). There are 5 destination stations so you will get one card from each station to make your 5 card hand (s). The Rotarians in each station will fill this Passport for each hand purchased.
